Our building dates back to 1929 and was originally used as a drill hall for Territorial Army Training.
It is now a vibrant community hub in the heart of Truro, serving both the local and wider community of mid-Cornwall. In 2018, Cornwall Council devolved ownership of the building to Truro City Council.
Our community space gives a wide range of people the opportunity to improve their health and wellbeing, engage in sports, develop new skills and meet like-minded people and our experience tells us that this can have tangible benefits throughout the City and further afield which has helped to consolidate social strengthening in our immediate locality and across a wider area beyond Truro.
Our main room is a large hall with a solid flooring suitable for many physical activities, a ground floor carpeted room that is used for small groups and meetings, a large upstairs room and a well appointed kitchen. The building has been redecorated and upgraded over the years including a stair lift inside to reach the main room and a reconditioned floor in the main hall room. Ground floor male and female toilets include shower facilities. There is a disabled access toilet on the ground floor.
There is limited car parking at the front of the hall for up to 12 vehicles; where possible please walk to the hall, cycle or use public transport. If you must drive to the hall, please car share.
Hendra Hall is managed by a Hall Users Committee composed of representatives of our hall user groups. We positively encourage our user groups to take an active part in the running and forward planning of our activities. If you hire or regularly use our premises we hope you would feel able to help and take a part in the future of the Hall. Your contribution is valued.
